New addition of tornado notification systems on Danby Campus

The Jefferson R-VII School District is pleased to announce a partnership with Jefferson County aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness and community safety through the addition of tornado notification systems.

Through funding provided by a federal grant, Jefferson County has installed a new tornado siren near the Danby campus. The district worked alongside county officials to provide a location for the new siren, helping expand emergency notification coverage for the surrounding area.

The newly installed siren operates completely independently of Jefferson R-VII School District systems and is powered by solar energy. The siren will be managed and operated through Jefferson County’s emergency management system.

As part of the implementation process, emergency management officials will conduct regular testing of the new siren to ensure the system is operating properly. Students, staff, families, and nearby community members may hear these tests as officials continue to evaluate and maintain the system.

Jefferson R-VII is proud to partner with Jefferson County on an initiative that supports the safety and preparedness of our schools and surrounding community. The addition of this tornado siren provides another important resource for alerting residents during severe weather emergencies.

The district appreciates Jefferson County and its emergency management officials for their continued efforts to help provide a safer environment for the entire Jefferson R-VII community.
